Theory time!

No one thought "Dalamud" sounded like "Bahamut"?

What we know: Dalamud was sent into space by ancient Allag. Something about it - and you'll have to forgive me since I'm grasping for bits at 2:30 AM - was a great sin. It's been up there for, what… 1000 years? Maybe longer?

Allag being a lost civilization, one of the first things which gets lost is language. Something has been lost in translation. WHAT IF: Allag's alphabet and the "modern" common script didn't have a clear way to differentiate between D and B, and H and L? If they looked similar on paper or other medium, it's entirely possible that Bahamut was what they meant, rather than simply disguising a powerful prison with a rhyming name, thinking no one would ever notice.

Also, the beast tribes needed loads of crystals to summon their Primals. We know the crystals were being used in summoning Dalamud. Therefore, the crystals were being used to summon Bahamut the Primal.

The lunar transmitters were probably used to send Bahamut's prison into the sky, first and foremost, rather than bring it down.

I want to know what happens to it between now and whenever the realm is reborn, I WANT TO FIGHT IT.

well we obviously gonna get to fight it, the only question that is kept unanswered: what the hell is bahamut supposed to do from now on? just rape the rest of the population? who stops it till the future time where/when we appear? Does he just fly away bored? Does he stay to control the survivors? Will we be servants of his in 2.0? Well you get the idea… :D

What we haven't been told, yet, it how much time passes between the end of 1.0 and the beginning of 2.0. Enough time to rebuild whole cities, but that could be… months or years in game time.

As the storyline explained, Primals and gods need the same power source to sustain their presence in the corporeal realm. That being so, Bahamut is going to spend his time burning things, kidnapping maidens for breakfast, demanding sacrifices, and gorging himself on whatever crystal energy he can get his claws on. He's probably also going to be all over Hydaelyn, not just Eorzea. It's been mentioned we'll get to see some locations outside of Eorzea in 2.0. I'd love to see Sharlayan, myself.

The "future" in store for us is probably going to be very different, and I can see crystals being harder to come by. Also, I wouldn't be surprised to see us having to actively help some of the beast tribes, since it was said in story that they largely controlled the flow of crystals into the market by negotiating trade agreements with Ashcrown Consortium. If we thought they were stern negotiators before, securing those agreements should end up being more of a challenge now.

Probably the reason other Primals will also be roaming freely… if not because of pockets of rampant crystal energy, but because the tribes probably summoned them to help deal with Bahamut. Also, Bahamut is evidently building himself a labyrinth. Do check out the transcript link below.

Ciel, you paint quite a picture. =)

Your summary intrigued me more than the cinematic.
